3 Day Angelus Alpine Adventure Itinerary
Our 3 day guided walk to Lake Angelus is an all inclusive package – starting from and returning to Nelson.
Day1
We travel by vehicle from your accommodation in Nelson to the Mt Robert carpark situated above Lake Rotoiti, Nelson Lakes. From here you will begin your gourmet walk up to Bushline Hut where you will have morning tea. Then along the Mt Robert ridgeline to Lake Angelus and the Lake Angelus Hut (elevation 1600m). We stay this and the following night at the Angelus Hut which is a brand new Department of Conservation building (2010).
Day 2
Today we explore either the Angelus Basin, Mt Angelus or Mt Cedric, depending on weather and group interest. Since we return to the same hut there is no need to carry more than a light day pack, making for an enjoyable day in the alpine air.
Day 3
The third day consists of walking down the Hukere Stream on the Cascade track towards the valley floor and into the Travers Valley. We follow the track to Coldwater Hut and before following Lake Rotoiti back to St Arnaud township. From here we transfer back to Nelson, in time for connecting flights, or an opportunity to explore Nelson further.
