The Kakadu Outback Safari is the perfect antidote to a cold New Zealand Winter. Southern Wilderness runs a limited number of four trips with only six people in each group over the winter months June and July. These trips take the guests into another world, of ancient aboriginal culture, some of the oldest landforms in the world, and lots of just plain fun!

The Kakadu Outback Safari actually takes you through three National Parks in the Northern Territory. Kakadu, Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) and Litchfield National Park. Your guide will take you over a journey of 1500 kilometres in a comfortable air conditioned 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser, ensuring you get through all those areas you need a four-wheel drive for with no problem! Your adventure will take you through areas of renowned beauty and ancient culture. Prepare for an unforgettable journey that you will remember for the rest of your life.
Each day you will generally walk for a short distance over sometimes uneven and rocky ground. The temperatures will be quite warm, so plenty of water and a good sun hat is a must; don’t worry though most of the walks are followed by swimming in Crocodile free and absolutely beautiful water holes!
The birdlife, and animals abounding in these areas is truly amazing, make sure you bring plenty of batteries and memory cards for your photos.
Each night you come to rest at an outback camping area. Some of these will have facilities such as showers, while others will just have basic toilets. Rest assured though the lack of 5 star comforts are more than made up for in terms of the unique surroundings. Eucalypt trees and camp fires each evening add to the experience of the true Outback Adventure.
